Plasma Fibroblast, also referred to as Plasma Skin Tightening, Plasma Pen, or Plasma Lift, is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment which offers an alternative to plastic surgery. Plasma Fibroblast offers an easier recovery than surgery, with more natural, scar-free results.
What is Plasma? You may be thinking of the type of plasma that is found in your blood, but in the case of Plasma Fibroblast, we are referring to the 4th state of matter, which is created when enough energy is applied to split atoms into electrons. The resulting cloud of free, positively charged ions, negatively charged electrons, radicals, and molecules is called Plasma.
What is the Feign Plasma Fibroblast Treatment? Plasma Fibroblast is a cosmetic treatment that can be performed almost anywhere on the face or body where sagging skin and/or lines are present. The plasma pen uses plasma to trigger your own skin to create new collagen for an overall lifting, tightening effect. The result is an even shrinking of the loose skin, with a more natural outcome that rivals surgery. Even better yet, as the plasma skin tightening process happens gradually over a few months as your body produces collagen, no one ever needs to know you had anything done. You will just look like yourself, only younger, fresher.
How does Plasma Fibroblast Treatment work? Plasma skin tightening is performed with a handheld device commonly referred to as a PLASMA PEN. This medical grade instrument is fitted with a disposable, single use metal applicator tip which discharges a small electrical charge. When the electrical energy emitted from the plasma pen is the correct distance from the skin (not touching), the oxygen and nitrogen in the surrounding air ionize, creating a tiny electrical arc. This miniature lightning bolt vaporizes the natural liquid in the skin, causing a contraction at the point of contact, and a tightening of the surrounding skin. The interaction between the plasma and the liquid in the skin causes the uppermost layers of the epidermis to vaporize, creating a small brown plasma dot, which stays in place, protecting the underlying new skin, until it is ready to fall off. The lower layers of skin cells also absorb the energy, heating up and causing "micro traumas", triggering the collagen and protein producing cells in the dermis called FIBROBLASTS. Fibroblasts are crucial in wound healing, and integral in maintaining tightness and firmness in the skin. The plasma skin tightening process stimulates the skin's natural healing abilities to create new collagen, and rebuild the internal supportive tissues of the skin, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, while lifting and tightening loose and sagging skin, all without going under the knife. The process of new collagen formation can continue in deeper levels of the skin for up to a year.
Professional technique creates a perfect pattern of carbon dots. Carbons fall off after about a week, leaving fresher, tighter skin, for a natural lift.

What are the benefits of Plasma treatment? Plasma Fibroblast treatments have become more and more popular in recent years, because they offer a viable alternative to surgery, with less downtime, easier recovery, lower cost, and more natural results. Plasma skin tightening treats the actual skin, rather than pulling it back and cutting it off. For many, plasma fibroblast forgoes the need for facelift surgery, buying back years in the skin's appearance. Plasma pen offers a natural face lift alternative.
What areas can be treated with Plasma? Almost any place there is loose skin can be treated with plasma fibroblast skin tightening! Non-surgical blepharoplasty with plasma pen is very popular. Tightening of lower eyelids (under eye bags), as well as crow's feet. Sagging jowls, smoker's lines, turkey neck. Plasma is even effective at reducing age spots and skin pigmentation, as well as removing moles and skin tags. Plasma treatment can be used to effectively tighten loose skin on the belly after pregnancy. Plasma knee lifts are increasingly common, as surgical tightening of that area is impractical, and can lead to unsightly scars. Plasma skin tightening can even be used in intimate female areas (plasma labia tightening). Anywhere there is skin laxity, plasma is an innovative modality for skin tightening and lifting.
How many treatments will I need? Depending on an individual's needs and expectations, as well as the area being treated, often only one plasma pen treatment is required. However, we often recommend a series of plasma fibroblast sessions to achieve optimal results. Plasma appointments are spaced at a minimum of eight to twelve weeks apart, to allow for full healing and restructuring of the epidermis.
Is Plasma Fibroblast painful? At FEIGN we use a highly effective combination of topical tetracaine, lidocaine, and benzocaine to numb the treatment area prior to the plasma fibroblast procedure. To ensure maximum comfort it's crucial for clients to arrive on time for their appointment to allow for ample time for the numbing agents to take effect. Client experiences of plasma treatments vary, from feeling nothing at all to some mild discomfort, depending on your body's response to topical anesthetics and your personal pain threshold.
Will there be downtime? Depending on your work and lifestyle, you can resume most normal activities immediately, however you will not be "camera ready" for a week or more. The little dots created by the plasma pen typically remain on the skin for 4-8 days. There will also be some initial swelling (especially if you have treated the eye area) which usually peaks on day 2 and subsides by day 4. We recommend planning for at least seven to ten days before any major social events, as you will likely have some residual cosmetic effects from the plasma skin tightening procedure. It is important to protect your healing skin from heat, moisture, and the sun. FEIGN's Plasma Fibroblast healing protocol requires complete sun protection (we recommend hats, sunglasses, masks, etc.) during the initial healing period, as it is best to use only the products recommended.
Can I use makeup after Plasma Fibroblast? During the initial healing phase of plasma skin tightening, we recommend abstaining from any but the recommended products, which are sterile and specifically designed to help the skin heal. While it may be tempting to cover the plasma carbon dots with concealer or mineral makeup, it is best to wait until all of the plasma dots have fallen off before resuming sunscreen and makeup use.
When will I see visible results? You will notice an immediate tightening effect after your plasma fibroblast skin tightening procedure, as the skin tightens around the tiny plasma dots. When the dots fall off, you will see a brighter, clearer complexion. This initial lightening and tightening is merely a sneak preview of what's to come, as full effect from plasma skin tightening really becomes apparent around week three to four, with visible lifting continuing for up to 12 weeks as the collagen within the dermis continues to build.
How long do the results from plasma skin tightening last? Plasma Fibroblast delivers long lasting non-surgical skin tightening. As with any other cosmetic procedure, normal aging of the skin will continue, but your results should last for years, depending on your own personal commitment to your health and that of your skin. Lifestyle factors, such as diet, health, how well you treat your skin and protect it from the sun, if you smoke, consume a lot of sugar or alcohol, etc. all factor into the lifetime health of your skin.
What are the risks and side effects of Plasma Fibroblast? Most of the potential risks of Plasma Skin Tightening are eliminated by proper screening of potential clients. Plasma pen treatments are safe and non invasive when performed by a trained professional on the appropriate skin types. When performed incorrectly, hyper or hypo-pigmentation can occur, and in untrained hands, even scarring. Pre-screening of clients is crucial for optimum plasma pen skin tightening outcomes, as well as strict adherence to pre and post procedure protocol. Carefully following aftercare instructions is absolutely critical in reducing risks of complications and side effects. As plasma fibroblast clients are usually very devoted to the health and beauty of their skin, compliance to aftercare is the norm, and beautiful results are a reasonable expectation.
Use our online pre-screening form to determine if Plasma Skin Tightening is right for you!
Am I a good candidate for Plasma Fibroblast? While Plasma Pen treatments are an excellent choice for many, we thoroughly screen all potential clients to ensure that we only treat clients that are most likely to have the best results with minimum risk of complications. Some skin types are better suited to plasma fibroblast than others. Typically best results are achieved on Fitzpatrick Scale skin tones 1-3. While plasma skin tightening can be safely and effectively performed on types 4 and 5 with proper pre-care and preparation, often another skin tightening modality, such as microneedling and radiofrequency are recommended for best results. We recommend a patch test in advance of plasma fibroblast treatment for anyone prone to hyperpigmentation, or fitzpatrick type 3 or above.
Other Plasma Pen Contraindications can include but are not limited to: pacemaker, blood pressure monitor, other implanted electrical device or metal implant at treatment site, epilepsy, seizures, fainting, narcolepsy insulin-dependent diabetes, acute inflammatory skin diseases (eczema, psoriasis), keloid scarring, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, pregnant or breastfeeding, resent Botox or Chemical peel, Lip fillers/ Restalyn/ Juvaderm., etc., forehead/ brow lift, tan by booth, sun, or tanning pills. It's important to determine whether or not you are a good candidate for Plasma Pen Skin Tightening. Phone consultations are always free!
Do I need a Consultation? Prior to accepting a Plasma Skin Tightening applicant, all potential clients must fill out an online form to establish whether or not plasma fibroblast is appropriate for their individual needs. After the initial assessment a patch test may be recommended for some clients, as well as an in-person consultation, at which we may prescribe a pre-care skin regimen to prep your skin for the plasma pen treatment.
How do I prepare for Plasma Fibroblast treatment? During your consultation, we will go over all of the necessary pre-care instructions, as these will vary from person to person, as well as depending on the area to be treated. Some clients will be required to use a particular product regimen prior to treatment. On the day of treatment, please arrive with a freshly washed face, clean of any makeup, sunscreen or moisturizer. If you wear contact lenses and are having your eye area done, please remove them and wear your glasses that day. We recommend having freshly washed hair, as it will be a few days before you can fully get wet. Have clean fresh pillowcases, and bring protective clothing (hat, sunglasses, whatever is needed to protect the area). Be prepared at home with a gentle skin cleanser for when you are able to wash, as well as a physical sunscreen of 50 spf or up for when you may resume sun protection.
What happens the day of my Plasma Fibroblast appointment? When you arrive for your Plasma Skin Tightening appointment, we will take your before photos, so we can compare them later with your after photos. (Don't worry, we won't publish them without your permission!) We then clean and apply the topical anesthetic to the treatment area, covering it with plastic for optimum effect. Depending on the area and intensity of treatment, the numbing agent will be left on the skin for a duration of 30- 45 minutes before we start the procedure. For larger areas, such as a plasma face lift, or plasma neck lift, numbing may be done in sections. During the numbing time, you will fill out pre-procedure forms, and your technician will review post procedure plasma pen aftercare directions. If you have any other questions or concerns, we will address them before we begin. During the procedure, you will be lying on a comfortable table, and the technician will frequently check in on your comfort level. After the procedure is complete, a soothing aftercare gel will be applied, and post-procedure photos will be taken. A check in appointment will be scheduled 4-5 weeks later, to assess the plasma treatment's effectiveness.
How long does a Plasma Pen procedure take? How long a Plasma Fibroblast session takes depends entirely on the area to be treated. Small areas may take only 15-20 minutes, with full non surgical face lifts taking several hours. All Plasma Pen treatments are preceded by a minimum of half an hour of numbing time. When we schedule your appointment, we will give you an estimate of the time it will take, so you may plan accordingly.
Is aftercare required after Plasma Fibroblast? Plasma Pen aftercare is crucial to get the best possible plasma results, but also to avoid any complications. YOUR RESULTS ARE IN YOUR OWN HANDS. With appropriate fibroblast candidates, negative side effects are due to poor aftercare, not to the procedure itself. Thorough aftercare instructions are given, as well as a post plasma aftercare kit, with products especially formulated for use during the plasma healing period. Plasma Aftercare Instructions are also available on this site for your review. It is a good idea to review these prior to any plasma fibroblast procedure, to ensure that you can comply.
